What We Believe
The Bible
We believe the Bible is God's revelation of Himself which was given through men divinely inspired by the Holy Spirit. We believe the Bible is fully trustworthy and inerrant and consider it the authority by which all human conduct, creeds, and religious opinions should be tried. We believe the Bible is a “living” book, through which God continues to challenge, inspire and teach believers as we allow Him to speak to us through it!
God
We believe there is only one living and true God. He is an intelligent, spiritual, and personal Being, the Creator, Redeemer, Preserver, and Ruler of the universe. God is holy and perfect in all aspects. He reveals Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit through His Word, the Bible, and His Son, Jesus.
Jesus
We believe Jesus is the eternal Son of God. In His incarnation, He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. During his life on earth, Jesus perfectly revealed and did the will of God, living his life fully free of sin. He suffered and was crucified on a cross to sufficiently pay the penalty for mankind's sin. He was raised from the dead with a glorified body and appeared to His disciples. He ascended into heaven and is now eternally exalted at the right hand of God. He will return in power and glory to judge the world and to complete His mission to redeem those who believe in Him and establish the fullness of His Kingdom over all creation.
The Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit is fully God and personal. We believe the Holy Spirit comes to dwell within believers at the moment of salvation and that He is vital for living lives pleasing to God. We believe that we are commanded to walk in obedience to God and be continually filled with the Holy Spirit. We believe the Holy Spirit enables believers to fulfill their calling from God through giving His Fruit (Gal. 5:22) and His Gifts (Rom. 12, 1 Cor. 12, Eph. 4). We believe that all of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit are valid and encourage the proper use and exercise of the Gifts in proper order. We believe the most obvious evidence of a believer being filled with the Holy Spirit is through the exercise of the Fruits of the Spirit.
Heaven and Hell
We believe heaven and hell are actual places. God's heaven is perfect and therefore cannot permit sin into heaven. Those who accept Jesus as their personal Savior are forgiven of their sin, allowing them to have eternal life with God in heaven when they die, or when Christ returns. For those who have not accepted Jesus as Savior, they will stand in judgment for their sin and will be condemned to eternal torment and separation from God in hell.
Mankind
We believe man was created in God's own image and is the crowning work of His creation. In the beginning man was innocent of sin. By his free choice, man sinned against God and brought sin into the human race. By his nature man is sinful. Only the grace of God can bring man back into a relationship with God. God has made this work possible through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Grace & Salvation
We believe man is saved from his sin and brought into relationship with God solely by God’s grace. Due to our sinful nature, mankind can do nothing to earn God's favor or salvation, other than accept Jesus as Savior. By faith, man accepts the free gift of salvation from sin that God has made available through His Son, Jesus. Those whom God has accepted in Christ will never fall away from their state of grace and forgiveness.
The Christian Life
We believe that when a person accepts Jesus as their Savior as payment for their sin, His Holy Spirit comes to dwell within them. The Holy Spirit guides us, leads us in seeking and understanding God and His holy will, and comforts us. As Christians, out of devotion and gratitude to Jesus, we are to seek to live Christ-like lives.
We believe that living a faithful Christian life is not an automatic reality for a believer, but must come through the daily decision to abide in Christ. We recognize that a believer can face barriers from their past or present struggles with sin that can become patterns in their lives which must be overcome and believe that Christ offers freedom from not only sin’s penalty, but also of sin’s power in our daily lives. Furthermore, we believe one day Jesus will return to forever remove sin’s presence from the life of every believer.
The Church
We believe the church is where a local group of believers come together for the purposes of worshipping God, growing spiritually, and discovering how to serve our world. We believe that Jesus calls all believers to be committed to a local body of believers and to walk in unity with that body. |
